another, other, the other, others, the others巧区别

Ⅰ. another 形容词或代词 指三个以上不定数目中的“另一个、又一个”用来代替或修饰可数名词。如：

The coat is a little larger. Can you show me another(one)?


I have to read another three / three more books in this term.

She stayed there another two / two more days.

We need another three / three more days to finish the job.

Ⅱ. other 指“别的，其他的”修饰复数名词。如：

We study Chinese, maths, English and other subjects at school.

Other animals usually feed on grass or leaves.


You can choose other gifts from our shop.

Ⅲ. 两个中的“另一个”用the other，如：

The twins are so much alike that it's even hard for their mother to differ one from the other.

Some students are playing on the other side of the playground.


Ⅳ. others 泛指“另外的人或物”， 但不指其余的人或物的全部。如：

Some like doing sports, others are interested in music.
