On the fifth day of the fifth lunar month in the Chinese lunar calendar, it is our traditional Duanwu Festival, also known as the Dragon Boat Festival. On this day, families all over the country eat zongzi, which embodies the ritualistic significance of the Dragon Boat Festival. The origin of eating zongzi is even associated with the death of Qu Yuan, who is revered by the Chinese people. People celebrate Qu Yuan to express the commemorative feelings for the Dragon Boat Festival.

 

The Duanwu Festival is a significant holiday that carries a rich history and cultural heritage. Customs such as making zongzi, dragon boat races, hanging fragrant leaves, and drinking xionghuangjiu are all traditional customs of the Dragon Boat Festival.

 

Among all the customs during this festival, my favorite is definitely eating zongzi. Zongzi is made of glutinous rice and bamboo leaves, and includes sweet-flavored jujube zongzi and salty-flavored meat zongzi, both of which are delicious and leave a never-to-be-forgotten taste in one's mouth.

 

Overall, the Duanwu Festival is a festival full of joy, mystery, and cultural meanings. I hope that everyone can inherit and carry forward this tradition and make more people aware of and love the Dragon Boat Festival.
