一、would rather不接从句用法

（1）would rather do sth than do sth 宁愿做……而不愿做……（非虚拟语气）


例：

当要表达过去发生的事情时，会采用would rather have done的用法，此时的用法其实是虚拟语气，往往表达与事实相反或不符的情况。would rather have done sth 宁愿过去做过某事（虚拟语气）如：


She would rather have spent the money on a holiday. (实际钱没有花在度假上)


她宁愿花钱去度假。

I would rather have taken his advice.


我宁愿过去接受他的意见。


二、would rather后接从句用法

当后接不同主语的从句时，从句中的谓语动词要采用虚拟语气的用法。如果是对现在或将来情况的描述，从句的谓语动词采用一般过去时的形式；如果是对过去情况的描述，从句的谓语动词采用过去完成时的形式。

1 ) " would rather +主语+动词过去式"表示对现在或将来的情况的虚拟表述。例:


I would rather you went next Sunday．


我愿你下星期天去。


I would rather they did something about it instead of just talking about it.


我宁愿他们做点什么而不是仅仅谈论它。


Would you rather I wasn’t honest with you?

你宁愿我对你不诚实吗？

I would rather Lionel took it on

我宁愿莱昂内尔负责这件事。

2 ) " would rather +主语+动词过去完成式"表示对过去的情况的虚拟表述。例：


I'd rather you had not given up the job then.
要是你当时不放弃那个工作就好了。


I’d rather you hadn’t rung me at work.

I would rather I had passed the examination last week.


我真希望通过上星期的考试。

（三）would much rather


当我们要强调时，会采用would much rather的用法。在口语中，我们会重读much以示强调。如：


I’d much rather make a phone call than send an email.


我宁愿打电话也不愿发电子邮件。


She’d much rather they didn’t know about what had happened.


她宁愿他们不知道发生了什么事。

I would much rather that you asked Mrs Zuckerman any questions pertaining to herself.

我宁愿你问楚克尔曼夫人的是与她本人相关的问题。
