In order/So as to show his boss what a careful worker he was, he took extra trouble over the figures. (但这里的in order/ so as也可以省略。)

TO引导的从句,或者以in order to(正式)或so as to(正式)引导的从句

例如:

‘Why did you phone your wife?’‘To tell her I would be late.’

(In order) to get into a university, many students have to attend special courses or retake their exams.

否定形式是:not to, in order not to, so as not to

例如:

In order not to disappoint the miners, the minister has offered them better pay and conditions.

So as not to disappoint the miners, the minister has offered them better pay and conditions.

1c 以in order that(正式)或so that(不怎么正式,也可以表示结果)引导的从句

例如:

We are advertising the course in order that (或so that) everyone will know about it.

放在句首表示目的的“in order/so as to…”

In order to appreciate poetry, it should be read aloud. (错句

In order to appreciate poetry, you should read it aloud.

“in order to…/so as to…”

He went to America (in order/ so as) to learn English.

主语“he”。

He sent his daughter to America to learn English.

宾语“his daughter”。

《英语常见问题解答大词典》(修订版)第1306页as as to/in order to词条

【问】___________ catch the early bus, he got up at five this morning.

A: so that B: so as to C: in order to D: in order that

So as to be heard, he spoke through a microphone. [EGS]

so as to可用于句首。例如:

So as to be heard, he spoke through a microphone. [EGS]

In order [So as] not to disappoint the miners, the minister has offered them better pay and conditions.

在强调这种目的状语时,不定式前可加in order或so as,如:

Many farmers fertilize their crops in order to make them grow more quickly.

I’ll write down his telephone number so as not to forget it.

In order to make a study of the kangaroo, he came to Australia.

To conceal my emotion, I buried my face in my hands.

是so as to +不定式较少置于句首。
