如何用英语表达数据的近似值？4种方法，助你突破雅思写作

在雅思英语小作文中，用英文对图表中的数据进行描述是必不可少的一个环节。

有时为了强调某数据，或突出大，或突出小，需对数据进行近似表达。例如，48%可近似表达为50%。

在对数据进行近似表达时，可遵照如下四大方法：

大约：对数据进行四舍五入；

超过：缩小数数据；

低于：放大数据；

等于：既不放大，也不缩小，仅强调。

1. 大约

英语中表述“大约”的短语，主要有 about, approximately, around , roughly 和 more or less。因此对33.3%，我们可以使用“大约”描述为：approximately 33% 或 roughly one third等。

2. 超过

用英语表达“超过”主要只用more than, over, just over 或 well over. 例如， 33.2%可以表达为：more than 33 per cent, 或 just over one third等。

3. 低于

表达“低于”的英语短语要丰富的多，主要有： less than， under， just under， well under， virtually， almost， nearly， practically。因此，19.5%可以表达为 just under 20%， 或 almost 20%, 或 virtually 20%等。

4. 等于

是的， 哪怕不对数据进行任何形式的缩放，也可以通过添加表示“等于”的英语短语，来对数据进行强调。可以通过如下方式进行等于强调：

exactly three quarters (75%)

precisely three quarters (75%)

only 10% (10%), only less than 10%(9.5%)

a high of 60% (60%)

a low of 15% (15%)

up to 20 people

as many as 50 people
