a.m.与p.m.用法精讲

1. a.m. 意为“上午”，p.m. 意为“下午”，直接读这两个字母就可以了。两者在用法上应注意以下几点：

(1) 其中的两个句点通常可以省略，即写成am和pm。

(2) 两者都不能单独使用，而要与表示时间的数字连用，且置于数字之后。

(3) 不能与 in the morning 或 in the afternoon 连用，以免构成用词重复。

(4) 不能与 o’clock 连用。

The plane leaves at 7:45 pm. 飞机下午7点45分起飞。

I have a dental appointment at 3 pm. 我下午3时有个牙科的预约。

It’s cheaper between 6 pm and 8 am. 下午6时至上午8时之间较为便宜。

2. 相应的短语有时可置于名词前作定语。如：

I missed the 5:45 pm train from Paris. 我没有赶上从巴黎开来的下午5点45分的列车。

The 7 am express to Bristol will be taken off next month. 上午7点开往布里斯托尔的快车将于下月停驶。
