more than的用法

more than的用法看似简单，却包含很多的变化。more是many或much的比较级,more than在英语中使用的频率很高，除了表达其基础语义“A比B多”之外，more than还可以根据不同的语境进行变化，表达出更多的意义。

more …than直接表示数量的多少

例1：I have done more exercises in English than I did last year.

我今年做的英语练习比去年多。

例2：My parents give me more encouragement than criticism when I make a mistake.

当我犯错的时候，父母给我的鼓励多于批评。

more B than A=less A than B 表示“与其说A不如说B”

这里的“A”和“B”一般都是形容词，在句中做表语，这个结构的内涵是“用B来描述比用A来描述更贴切”。

例句：He is more lazy than slow at his work.

He is less slow than lazy at his work.

他工作时，与其说是反应慢不如说是懒。

no more… than 表示“与某人（某物）一样不…”

在这个用法中，“no more”后面既可能是形容词，也可能是副词。其内涵是对比较双方的某一特性的同时否定。

例句：You are no more intelligent than me.

你和我一样不聪明。

特别注意：no more… than与not more… than的区别

上面已经谈到，no more… than的结构是带有说话人的某种情感色彩，暗示被比较的双方都“不”，而not more…than则是一个客观的比较，仅仅表达出“前者不如后者怎么样”。

例句：You are not more intelligent than me.

同样，no less…than与not less…than也有上述的区别。

例1：He is no less diligent than you.

他和你一样勤勉。

例2：He is not less diligent than you.

他比你勤勉。

more than happy(glad, willing…)表示“非常高兴（开心，愿意…）”

例句：I am more than happy to give you some help.

能给你一些帮助，我非常高兴。
