高考考点Little们用于肯定含义分析

Little(few) 和a little(a few)接不可数名词（可数名词）分别表示否定意义和肯定意义这些基本知识不再赘述；今天重点讲解little(few)用于句子中表示肯定的含义情况：

1、 little(few)前已经用某些特指限定词（如定冠词、物主代词等），则不表示否定，而表示肯定含义。

The little you have is important for us very much.你有的那一点点（水、食物、钱等）对我们是非常重要的。

I paid them a generous wage for the little they did.我为他们那一点点工作付出了超高的工资。

2、 not a little 固定短语，意为“很多，相当，很，非常，十分”quite a little, a good little,quite a few 等意思大致一样。如：

He was not a little surprised, because it came so unexpectedly.他非常吃惊，因为事情来的太突然了。

3、 little less than 表示肯定含义，可译为与……也……一样、如同、简直、厉害、多、很、极，其反义词为little more than（no more than）可译为少、不厉害、不多、弱 ;如：

He is little less capable than his ender brother.他和他的哥哥一样的能干。

His behaviour is little less than disgraceful.他的举止极为不雅。

It is little less than robbery.这简直就是抢劫。

注意：a little less than才是“比……少一点，差一点，逊色”如：

He is a little less capable than his ender brother.他的能力比他哥哥差一点。

Ten is a little less than eleven.十比十一少一点。

自然a little more than比……多一点，好一点，胜出一点

4、 little more than 表示言其少，刚刚、仅仅、只不过，如：

But let us suppose that the Atlantic Ocean is now regularly crossed by enormous hovercraft. The hovercraft, with a thousand motorcars on board, moves at 100 miles per hour, and is across the Atlantic in little more than one day.(复旦大学 《英语》三 168页)

让我们设想，现在有许多的气垫船定期跨越大西洋航行。装载着上千辆汽车的气垫船的航速每小时一百英里，气垫船仅仅花上一天时间就能穿越大西洋。
